Why coaching
You could get coaching from a boss, but ultimately they need to evaluate you. You could get coaching from peers, but you don't want to take too much time from them and you don't get great consistency. You could get coaching from mentors, but the focus is on what they've done and less on how you can develop the muscles. A product coach is solely here for you, helping you achieve goals that you couldn't previously achieve.

Your team does a good job taking orders and delivering, but doesn't put much thinking or logic into strategic decision-making. You know they need to be more business- and output-oriented to be successful. Your team knows "move fast and break things", but given the industry you are in, this could be detrimental. They don't know how to actually apply product management best practices well.

You have deep domain knowledge, but it's your first time leading product, and stepping into a senior role raises the stakes. Priorities shift, stakeholders move slowly, and orgs struggle to communicate, but you are often the one dealing with the consequences. Will my company pay for coaching?
Many of my clients get their coaching cost covered by their company partially or fully, either through an official program, or by asking their manager directly.
This can be as simple as "I want to make the biggest impact I can, and I think product coaching would help." Regardless of the outcome, this request reflects positively on you!
What this looks like
- 16 or 24 weekly sessions, direct email access, and up to 1 hour of work done by me between sessions.
- We set clear and measurable goals. If your company is sponsoring coaching, these goals could be shared.
- Using coaching and advising, I help you identify the true challenges and a path forward.
- As a thought and accountability partner, I coach you to navigate your current challenges, and also build muscles for the future.
- I share patterns I've seen across the board, so you make better decisions with higher confidence.
- Practice key skills in a safe space with feedback.
- Clarify the value you bring, identify gaps, and prioritize focus areas for your next phase of growth.
